Whole30 Day 1, Student Film Part, & More

Greetings Earthlings,

I really thought I lost this post when my browser crashed, and am soooooooooo glad I didn't.

 Whole30 Day 1

I started my first day of the Whole30 today. The Whole30 is a diet that has you eliminate certain food groups for 30 days to see whether any of these (and which ones) are impacting your health. I'll be the first to admit that the idea of maintaining this diet over the holidays gives me some pause however, it seems like there's always a holiday within a 30 day period and I have been meaning to do this program for some time. Due to medical reasons, I am going to be trying to eat mostly low-histamine. I am going to be posting food and recipes here just in case anyone else reading this is in search of ideas.

What I ate:

Breakfast: Lemon Larabar, coffee, and A LOT OF cashew butter
Lunch: 1/2 a bell pepper, applesauce*, and cashew milk*
Dinner: Chopped chicken sausage sauteed with peppers, onions, and corn

*Both the applesauce and cashew milk were homemade. For the applesauce, I cored and peeled four apples and let them simmer on medium heat in a covered pan with 3/4 a cup of water and 1/2 a teaspoon of ground cinnamon for about 20 minutes. For the cashew milk, I blended 2 cups of water with 5 tablespoons of cashew butter in my Magic Bullet. The recipe only called for 3, but I like it really strong and don't really care about the extra calories. It is recommended to store it in the fridge for 2-3 days, but I didn't and it tasted fine ;).

Magic Bullet: I love it!

I was going through the stuff in our basement and found an unopened Bullet. I just got to using it today, and I LOVE IT SOOOO much. It's so much better than our crappy, old blender and whatever you're making is done in seconds. It's also really easy to clean, which of course is a plus because--like many people--I love cooking and hate, abhor, & despise cleaning.

Acting

My Audition Technique class at Imagination Stage (a children's theater in DC) wrapped on Tuesday--Tempus Fugit. For anyone who knows Imagination Stage, I had Amelia Nickles. I really liked this class and think I actually learned quite a lot over the course of the 6 weeks. For the most part, we worked on monologues (mine was Wrong and Ready by Greta Zehner), but we also did cold sides, audition etiquette and other things of that sort. I found out on Wednesday that I got a part in the student film at Imagine Stage, which I auditioned for 2 weeks ago. I thought I'd done okay when I left the audition, but after not having heard from them after a week I realized that I might've come off as nervous because I was pumped full of caffeine and had a lot of energy (I'm not sure if I actually was nervous though). Anyways, I'm happy that I got the part :). This week has been a pretty light audition week for me, as I've only had two since Monday.

Anyways, to whoever is reading this have an amazing day! Live like each day is your last day on earth--then and only then will you have no regrets.

Adieu,Sophia

Hello, is there anybody out there?

Hello from the other side--of my computer.

This is my second time writing this because I, of course being myself, didn't save it the first time. Welcome to my blog! I've been meaning to start this for a long time, but I keep lacking the time to do it. I intend for this blog to be a narrative of my life and a commentary about things going on in this complicated, screwed-up, but at the same time magical and interesting world. My writing will range from commentary on current events to reviews of restaurants. movies, and books to fashion and life as a homeschooler (spoiler alert: we are not ALL anti-social freaks...crazy right?). I will also probably end up talking about acting, singing, and songwriting as I aspire to do all these things professionally one day.

Meet Me!

Not the best picture, but you get the point. I'm 14 years old, in the ninth grade, and live in Washington, DC. I love acting, singing, and songwriting as mentioned above. I also love writing, medicine, and playing the guitar. In my free time, I like going to the movies with friends and, of course, shopping! I love fashion and pretty much anything that's made out of leather, is black or has a heel. I also love cooking and am a huge foodie. As for people in the entertainment industry, I love Jennifer Lawrence, Olivia Wilde, and Caterina Scorsone as well as Demi Lovato, P!nk, and Taylor Swift. I am currently taking acting classes at Imagination Stage and the Theatre Lab and am part of the Children's Chorus of Washington.

¡adiós!
